January JAM meeting - SNOW?!?

Hello ladies!  Sounds like the mood swing that we call Winter of 2013/14 is still in full effect!  SO, just in case it snows in the morning, here's the Calvary campus rule for weather:  If Souderton or Pennridge school district closes or has a delay, JAM will be cancelled.  Fingers crossed that's not the case!  If it does snow and we're all on our way in, remember there's kiddo drop off zones where the Mentor Moms will hold on to your kids while you park .  Those areas are Entrance 13 - on the Silverdale side with overhang - and the "Donut Man" entrance - where the overhang is in the parking lot off of 113.

November Meeting Recap

 November Newsletter

This month's meeting was marked by lots of time to share.  Whether it was the abundance of table time as we brunch'ed together at individual table spreads or hearing the life stories brought to us by Susannah, Teresa, and Kim, we hope you had lots of time to connect with other women!

Tickets were sold during the event for the Women of Faith Christmas simulcast, so if you haven't gotten one but would still like to there may be a few more ways to get one.  Ticket cost is $5 per ticket and they will be available at the next meeting, but please let our event coordinators know that you would like one by emailing calvaryjam@gmail.com

We hope you have a wonderful month full of thanksgiving and peace!  See you again soon!

October Meeting Recap

This month's topic was Parenting.  We watched a video from Gary Thomas called Sacred Parenting.  It's part of a series that is available through the library or for purchase online.  However, the episode that we watched is available for free.  Scroll to the bottom of the post (after the jump) to watch!

Our time together was a lot of fun.  We had table time - not quite as much as last month - but it was valuable nonetheless!  Topics of discussion included those moments when we really noticed that our kids are watching us and what we're learning about our sinful behavior through parenting.  Good, thought provoking stuff.

It wasn't all serious though, the creative activities gals had a lot of fun planned for us with this month's photo contest.  What a crack up to see some of the totally awesome outfits some of us were rockin' in the 80's and 90's.  There were several great prizes, all of which we are extremely grateful for.  The big winner was Karen Weiand who sported both acid washed, pegged jeans AND a jean jacket complete with "flair" (buttons), a plaid shirt, perm, big bangs, a scrunchie, and braces.  That girl was a CATCH!  We also heard about the fun craft the ladies have come up with for December - a scarf wreath.  Trust me - much cuter than it could ever seem in print.  So, if you have extra winter scarves laying around, please bring them with to the next meeting!  We still need about 40 more for everyone to be able to make a wreath.

Jammies had their annual fire drill while we were meeting.  Many thanks to the campus services staff, Jammies volunteers, and the Jammies coordinator Anne Lao for making it go off without a hitch.  It's so great to know that our kids are safe and secure while we get a little time to ourselves upstairs.

A few announcements to make note of:
- The Women of Faith Christmas simulcast tickets are for sale during JAM.  Ticket price is $5.  Click here or email our events coordinators, Linsey and Mindy, for more info.
- Next month each table will be coordinating their own brunch together.  It's a great opportunity for more table time, so make sure you're in touch with your table leader to get signed up!

Click here to see this month's newsletter.  Remember the video is beyond the jump, just click "Read More" to see it.  See you next month!

September Meeting Recap

Last Friday we met for the first time for the year.  It was a great time to be able to meet new friends and catch up with old ones.  Hopefully, everyone who was new, or at least new to a table, felt welcome.  If you didn't, please reach out to your table leader or another JAM volunteer.

We also got to hear from a few of our Mentor Moms, learning about their families, backgrounds, interests, and what they're hoping for us for this year.  We really hope you can get to know them too.  Their phone numbers and email addresses are in this month's newsletter.

We also heard from our creative activities team who challenged us with two fun activities:
  • 365 Questions:  questions for you and your loved ones to share throughout the year (keeping #25 to you and your hubby!)
  • JAM Photo Contest - Pic your most point-worthy photo to enter into the contest at our October meeting!
The FaceBook group is up and running and attracting new members every day.  We try to update it regularly, so please join us there!  Just click "Join Group" to have a request sent for approval.

We're looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting on October 11th!

The Dog Days Are Over (almost...)

So here we are... The middle of a hot, humid summer that brings us sweltering heat and heavy, humid days.  Yesterday I stepped outside and thought I could almost chew the air if I decided to.  My kids have a heroic level of energy and ability to let out ear-splitting screams of both delight and anguish.  Somehow, I have to determine which based on some innate maternal instinct.

Are you looking forward to fall yet?!?  I'm blasting Florence + the Machine and singing my head off right now to help cope.

If you're having one of those days (or even if you aren't) make sure you head over to the EventBrite website or email us at CalvaryJAM@gmail.com.  Remember to fill out ALL of those fields, girls, especially those ones about your kiddos!  Do you remember that awesome lady, Anne Lao, who managed that whole JAMMIES program last year?  She's back and ready to roll.  But she needs all the info about your kids who'll be attending to make it happen.  Speaking of makin' it happen...

We are in need of some additional volunteers to help out with JAMMIES.  So if you, or someone you know, is willing to commit just 2 1/2 hours, 8:45-11:15 am, on the 2nd Friday of each month from September through May helping to care for kids, please email Anne Lao at chinadoll35@hotmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!!
